  • How long does it take to process my order?
    Credit cards:
Credit card payments are processed in real time. For orders placed before 11:00 you should receive delivery to your door the next day.

    Debit order:
Debit orders are run daily. Orders will only be processed once the money has cleared in our bank account, this takes up to 5 days, we then need 1 day for delivery.

  •  How soon can I expect my phone to be delivered?
Once payment is successfully received, your order will be processed.
Orders processed before 11:00  can expect delivery the following day (before 2:00pm in major centres and after 2:00 pm in outlying regions.)
Orders processed after11:00  will be delivered within 2 working days.

  • How do I cancel my service?
Simply notify the Service Desk in writing, cancellations@voxtelecom.co.za who will organise to have the Vox Phone collected in its original packaging and the service will be cancelled 30 days later.

  • Can I test the service for a while before signing up? When you sign-up for a Vox phone there are no contracts and no obligations. This means that you can try the product and cancel at any time without any further obligations.   But the truth is that we have to deliver equipment to you to the value of R 2000 - R 3000.  We therefore need to pay for delivery and insurance to do so.   So the minimum charge for the setup fee and delivery is R 300.00.  Considering that this is what you could save in your first months phone bill alone it is not a bad deal at all.  If you are not satisfied simply send us an email to cancel the service.  We will pickup the equipment from your door with no obligation and you will only be billed for the month and the usage during that time.   It is a small price to pay for possible savings every month for the rest of your life. The question you should be asking is can you afford not to try Vox?

  • How do I pay?

Your monthly bill and once off sign-up fee can be paid only via debit order or credit card.  For your convenience your monthly phone bill will be charged one month in arrears. You will receive an invoice at the end of each month containing your monthly usage.  All incoming calls you receive on your new 087 number will earn you a rebate of between 20c and 40c.  This will be credited to your account.  If you have received more rebates than you have made outgoing calls, you will be making money. We will pay this money into your bank account.  You will have access to your online itemised billing statement at any time or you can simply phone the helpdesk for any enquiries.

  1. How does it work

Intro:                                                                                             Sub Menu

It's simple. Using VoIP Technology Vox makes your calls via the internet instead of the traditional Telkom analogue lines.  Since the internet is available everywhere, Vox can re-direct voice calls over the internet to any other internet point. Just like email is free so is Voice over the internet (VoIP).  The technology allows your voice to be changed into digital format or little data packages and then sent over the internet.  Vox also allows you to break out of the internet network to Cell phones and traditional phone lines by making calls cheaper than Telkom and reducing your phone bill. In contrast to other VoIP service providers you receive a South African phone number for incoming calls  from phones like Telkom land lines and cell phones.  Every time you receive a call from a Telkom land line or a cell phone you earn cash.

  • Free Calls

    • All calls made from a Vox to Vox phone number is FREE, anytime day or night to any location in the world.  Unlimited free calling.

    • Free calls are one of the main features of Vox and ensure substantial savings in the long run.

    • Small businesses with regional offices can call each other for free providing that the parties all have ADSL and Vox ADSL phones.

  • Cheap Cell phone calls

    • Save 16% on calls when making cell phone calls with Vox.
    • Making a call to cell phones is one of the most expensive things we see on our phone bills these days.  Saving 16% on this is therefore very important and a big saving.
    • Making cheap cell phone calls can alone reduce your Telkom bill significantly.

  • Cheap Long distance calls

    • Save 20% or more when you make long distance calls with Vox
    • Vox offers cheap long distance to any Telkom line in South Africa.

    • Making money with Rebates
      • Vox allows you to make money by earning 40c per minute on each incoming call you receive from a cell phone on your Vox 087 phone number.
      • Earn 20c per minute from every land line call you receive on your new Vox 087 ADSL phone number. You earn cash on all calls made from local numbers, long distance calls and International calls.
      • Should you talk on average an hour every day on incoming calls from Cell phones you will receive an amazing R 750 cash into your bank account. What did you do to earn that money?  Nothing!
      • Making money with Vox for receiving incoming calls is the main advantage of using Vox over any other VoIP service provider.
      • Vox offers Individuals and Small businesses an additional income stream and opportunity to earn cash by receiving calls. Families and small businesses receiving allot of calls can earn allot of money. So make sure to provide your Vox 087 phone number to everybody calling you.

      • Why do customers receive rebates
        • It's simple, it is Vox's business model and marketing plan. If customers are earning an extra R 200 or R300 pm on rebates received from incoming calls... why would you stop using Vox?  Vox earns money on other aspects of its business so it has decided to give back to the community and loyal customers.

      • How do I pay?     You pay your monthly phone account via Debit order. Set-up cost can be paid via credit card also.

      • How do I receive my rebates on incoming calls.     Rebates are paid into your bank account as specified on your debit order.  Rebates are only paid out should your rebates be more than your phone bill.  If your phone bill is more than your rebate the rebates will simply be deducted off your account.

You can unplug your existing ADSL modem and sell it as you will no longer need it. Vox provides you with all the equipment you need. You do not need to cancel your existing ADSL service with your service provider like Telkom or Mweb. Vox is simply an add on service. You only need to replace your Vox modem with your physical modem.

  • What is the reception radius of the  phone and wireless connection?     The rule of thumb is that it is 25m indoors and 35m outdoors.

  • If there is a power failure will the phone still work?   If there is no power your Vox router as with any other router will not work.  This means that you will not be able to go on the Internet or make and receive calls.  The solution for this is off course to use the free call forwarding service that can forward your calls to a specified number i.e. Telkom or cell phone when you do not answer it.

  • How do we enable or disable services like Call forwarding?   Vox has an online interface that allows you to manage your settings like speed dial, call forwarding etc.

  • Call forwarding...how does it work?    Call forwarding forwards your calls to a number you specify.  You can have all your calls forwarded or just when you don't answer. You can set it up on the online interface.  You will still receive your rebates for receiving incoming calls but you will have to pay for the call cost  from Vox to your specified number.

  • Can I use Vox as a Mini PABX?   Yes.  Vox offers basic PABX functionality when ordering additional handsets. The mini PABX is a feature on the Vox cordless phone that allows you to transfer a call to another Vox cordless phone or to make internal calls to other Vox cordless phones on the same base station.  When you order a Vox phone you receive a ADSL modem/base station  You can order up to 5 additional handsets (cordless phones) to use with this one base station.
    • Should you have two or three offices in the same building  (in an 35m radius) you can use the Vox mini PABX to makes calls to each office (or room) internally without any cost. You can also transfer calls between handsets.
    • Make and receive up to 2 external Vox calls (Learn more) at the same time however your voice quality may deteriorate if your Internet service is too slow or very busy at that time. Alternatively one of the additional handsets can simply dial *9 and also make a call via the Telkom line.
    • You can enable the call forwarding feature online so that when all your Vox  lines are busy you won't have to miss additional incoming calls. Simply have the calls forwarded to a Telkom number or your cell phone.  Now you will never have to miss a call and can receive up to 3 incoming calls simultaneously..

    • Can Vox connect to our PABX system?     In 99% of cases the answer to this question is no.  However some smaller PABX's do allow a standard Telkom phone plug to be connected to its base station.  If your PABX allows standard Telkom plug connections it may be possible to add one additional Vox line to your PABX system. Standard connection meaning the plug at the end of your phone cord.  Each Vox base station or ADSL modem has got a standard connection to allow you to plug in a regular Telkom phone or cordless phone.  Buy plugging in a standard phone you will get an additional Vox phone line with all the benefits that the Vox phone offers (providing that your Internet connection is fast enough).   If your BABX allows it you could use this connection to plug into your PABX.

  • If I am a Customer only, what is the best way of using Vox to save money?
Vox number to Vox number during Peak and Off-Peak hours
Vox number to International number during Peak and Off-Peak hours
Vox number to Cell phones during Peak times
Vox number to National Telkom number during Peak hours

  • Is our company to large or to small?    Vox is generally aimed at Small businesses and home use.  It really depends on how many calls you would like to make and receive simultaneously.  You can order up to 5 additional handsets and transfer calls between these handsets but you will only receive one 087 number and will only be able to make a maximum of two outgoing calls at a time from  using these cordless phones. If the speed of your ADSL line is sufficient you can gain an additional Vox line by plugging in your Telkom phone into the back of the VOX ADSL router. Since Vox is an add on service to your ADSL line you will still have an available Telkom line as well.  Take into mind that each phone allows you to switch to the Telkom line simply by pressing *9.  This means that you can make 3 x simultaneous calls including Telkom.   On average we would suggest Vox for about 3-4 people working from desks.  Your company can never be to small for the Vox system.   If you have a larger company you can only receive a Vox number for each ADSL line you have.  Should you have only one ADSL line you can place the Vox phone with the people receiving or making the most calls.

  • Can I try before I buy?  When you sign-up for a Vox phone there are no contracts and no obligations.  This means that you can try the product and and cancel at any time without any further obligations. But the truth is that we have to deliver equipment to you to the value of R 2000 - R 3000.  We therefore need to pay for delivery and insurance to do so.   So the minimum charge for the setup fee and delivery is R 300.00.  Considering that this is what you could save on your first months phone bill alone it is a very good deal!  If you are not satisfied simply send us an email to cancel the service.  We will collect the equipment from your door with no obligation and you will only be billed for the month and the usage during that time.   It is a small price to pay for possible savings every month for the rest of your life. The question you should be asking is can you afford not to try Vox?

Sub Menu

  • How much money can we save?   It depends on your usage, call type and on how many incoming calls you receive.  By getting others to also join Vox your FREE calling feature alone could save you thousands of rands.  Receive one hour of incoming cell phone calls per day and you get an additional R720pm.

    1.       Save 16% on cell phone calls

    2.       Save 23%+  on long distance calls

    3.       Save 50 - 80% on International calls

    4.       Earn 20c to 40c cash on incoming calls

    5.       Receive UNLIMITED FREE minutes to everyone also using Vox

  • Can we use Vox with 3G or I-Burst?   No not at this stage... but you never know, maybe in the future.  The reason is simple...  the voice quality of both these Internet connections are to unstable and do not provide clear voice quality.  Other VoIP service providers may find bad voice quality acceptable... Vox does not.

  • How much money can we make on incoming calls? This existing feature can earn you quite a bit of extra income.  You receive 40c on incoming cell phone calls  and 20c on incoming land line calls. Bear in mind if you plug in your Telkom phone you can receive two incoming calls simultaneously. Below is an example for receiving calls from cell phones  on a daily basis:
    • 1 hour per day   =   R 720 extra per month
    • 2 hours per day  =  R 1440 extra per month
    • 5 hour per day =    R 3600 extra per month

  • Please explain how the additional lines work?   Vox by default offers you two additional phone lines and another line for each extra phone or handset that you order. There is however two limitations, the first is that you can use a maximum of 5 additional handsets on one Vox base station. You can only connect one base station per ADSL line.  The second major limitation is the speed of your ADSL line.  Since VoIP technology uses your Internet data and bandwidth to make calls,  the more people talk simultaneously the more Internet bandwidth and traffic you will use. This means that the voice calls will compete with each other for bandwidth that may result in the call quality to deteriorate or a call to be dropped.  It also depends on how much Internet traffic you personally use at the same time (i.e. emails, Internet browsing, downloads etc) as this will all play a factor on how many lines can be used simultaneously. As a guidance and rule of thumb only,  you can safely use Vox lines with the following ADSL speeds but the best is to try and test it for yourself:
    • 312kbps speed ADSL:      Use 1 to 2 Vox lines
    • 512 kbps speed ADSL:    Use 1 to 3 Vox lines
    • 1024kbps speed ADSL:    Use 1  to 4 Vox lines
    • 4024kbps speed ADSL:    Use 1 - 5 Vox lines

  1. Technical Questions &  Setup and Installation

  • How do I connect computers to the Vox modem?    Vox has two ways of connecting computers to the Vox modem to allow them to gain Internet Access. Via network cable and via wireless link.

    • How many computers can I connect simultaneously?   The wireless connection allows 5 computers to connect simultaneously.   There are only two cable links (ports), however you can connect the Vox modem to a network hub which will allow more computers to connect via network cable. To buy a network hub simply contact your local computer store. Hubs are in the region of R 500.

  • What is the Sound Quality like?   On average Vox provides reliable sound quality sufficient to conduct a decent conversation.  Sound quality is however dependant on the Telkom ADSL line.  Voice data get priority when transmitted via Internet however it does compete for bandwidth.  Should you be having two conversations at the same time or should there be a lot of Internet traffic you may experience slight variation in the sound or minor disruptions. Faster ADSL lines usually do not provide these interruptions but it is however dependant on many factors. In most cases people talking on a Vox line notice no difference to a Telkom line.

  • How much air time will I get with a 1 Gig cap?
If used only for the phone with no emails, attachments, downloads etc - it will give you approximately 4200min of call time!

  • How do I get paid from incoming calls? - Customers and Dealers
You get a R0.20c per minute rebate on every call from a Telkom number to the 087 number and R0.40c per minute rebate from every call from a cell phone to your 087 number. Your rebate will be reflected as a credit on your monthly bill.

  •  Will there be a difference in lines for my Home use and Office use?
No. But Telkom charge a different rate for home and office ADSL.  Vox does not differentiate.

  • Can we use some other network like Wireless or WiMAX?
No, currently Vox's service has been optimised for Telkom's ADSL Network. Vox is currently researching other phones on other technologies like WiMAX, but the products are not consistent enough to launch to the market.

  • What does calls to a Vox 087 number cost?
That depends on where the call is coming from; all calls from Cellular networks will be priced at the standard cell phone charge, International networks are not connected at this stage. Other Alternative Service providers, like MWeb, will be priced as cheaply as possible and the cheapest will be Vox to Vox calls. Telkom, however, are charging R1.07 to phone a Vox No. which is substantially less than a cellular call and slightly more than a Telco to Telco National call, (but we believe this is an issue that their customers may take up with Telkom.) They can either switch to Vox or some other provider, or put pressure on Telkom themselves. We believe the natural competitive process will drive this down.

Sub Menu

  • Why is Telkom charging so much to phone Vox?
Telco is listed on NASDAQ and the JSE and have a responsibility to their share holders to maximise their profits. It is therefore in their interest to fight off competitors like Vox in every way possible.

  • How does free calling work?   Everyone using Vox can call each other for free any time day or night and distance.  It works by making calls over the Internet (digital)  instead of using Telkom's traditional analogue lines. An ADSL Internet connection provides you with sufficient speed to receive reliable voice quality.  Note that voice calls do use data on your ADSL data bundle and the data usage on average would costs about 2-4c per minute.

  • How do I make a call?    Your Vox phone is just like any Telkom phone. Simply pick up the handset and dial the number.  Incoming calls will ring... simply answer.

  • Can I try before I buy?  When you sign-up for a Vox phone there are no contracts and no obligations.  But the truth is that we have to deliver equipment to you to the value of R 2000 - R 3000.  We therefore need to pay for delivery and insurance to do so.  So the minimum charge for the set-up fee and delivery is R 300.00.  Considering that this is what you could save in your first months phone bill alone it is a very good deal!  If you are not satisfied simply send us an email to cancel the service.  We will collect the equipment from your door with no obligation and you will only be billed for the month and the usage during that time.   It is a small price to pay for possible savings every month for the rest of your life. The question you should be asking is can you afford not to try Vox?

  • How do I pay?     You pay your monthly phone account via Debit order.     Set-up cost can also be paid via credit card.

  • How do I receive my rebates on incoming calls.     Rebates are paid into your bank account as specified on your registration form.  Rebates are only paid out should your rebates be more than your phone bill.  If your phone bill is more than your rebates the rebates will simply be credited to your account.

  • Is rebates cash?  Yes it is not credits like with ICTEL. You can spend it like you want

  • How many phones can or should I order?

  • Is Vox's quality as good as Telkom
Vox has invested extensively on the core infrastructure and customer phones to ensure that our quality is at the highest standard possible and above 4 on the Mean Opinion Score .

  • What is the Mean Opinion Score
This is a standard measure of Voice quality used by all the International Telcos.

  • Is Vox's Quality Constant
No, unfortunately the quality is dependent on Telkom's ADSL network which does fluctuate occasionally in some areas but 98.5% of the time the quality is adequate to make a clear voice call.

  • How expensive is it to phone a Vox 087 number?
That depends on where the call is coming from; all calls from the Cellular networks will be priced at the standard cell phone charge, International networks are not connected at this stage. Other Alternative Service providers, like MWeb will be priced as cheaply as possible and the cheapest will be Vox to Vox calls. Telkom, however, are charging R1.07 to phone a Vox number which is substantially less than a cellular call and slightly more than a Telco to Telco National call, (but we believe this is an issue that their customers may take up with Telkom.) They can either switch to Vox or some other provider, or put pressure on Telkom themselves. We believe the natural competitive process will drive this down.

  1. What do I need?
    • You only need yourself and a R 500 sign-up fee. Your current location is ideal. Opportunity is available part time or fulltime.

  1. Dealer FAQ's
  • If I register as a Vox Dealer do I automatically get a Vox ADSL Phone?
No, the Vox ADSL phone is not part of the Dealer Pack.   It is however recommended that a dealer order a phone.

  • When can I expect my dealer pack?
It depends on your method of payment.  If you signed-up using a credit card you should receive your dealer pack within 24 hours (work days).  For payments made by debit order delivery usually take 6 days.  If you order before 10:00 you will receive next day delivery.

  • How do I earn money:   Dealers earn money in 3 ways.  Firstly you earn money on the sign-up of a new customer,  then on the monthly usage of the customer (passive income) and lastly on the usage of the customers of  dealers you appoint. Your dealer can subsequently also sign-up dealers. You will earn on customer usage for your entire  dealer network up to 5 levels down.  Once you have signed-up a client that client is yours for life and you will keep on making money on that client every month for as long as they use the product. Click here to see more details on How dealers Make Money  or click here to read more about the Business Opportunity.

  • Can I get my own website?  Yes. You can design your own website or get a personalized Vox website from Vox  at R 150pm.  This will allow people to signup online directly under your dealership.

  • Am I restricted to a selected region?   No. You will be acting as an independent dealer and may operate anywhere you like.

  • How do I sign-up a customer?

Dealers can register customers in 3 ways:
1. A5 Registration From
Let the client complete and sign the application form you have received in your dealer starter pack or by email.    Ensure your dealer number is on the form.  If you are not with the client you can email or fax the form to them and have them fax it back to you.   For a free fax to email number go to www.bizfax.co.za to get one...it takes 1 minute.   After receiving the signed form from the customer you must register the customers on the website link we will provide you using your sponsor number.  See step 2 below for this...
.
2. Online on the clients behalf
Providing that you have all the client details you can register clients online on the clients behalf. Simply go to the website link we will provide you and click on “Buy Phone” and follow the steps to complete the clients details. On the last page you will be asked for the dealer number where you can simply type in your dealer number to have the client fall in your down line. Note: you cannot register a client or dealer who does not have an email address.

3. On your own Website (if you order one)
Vox can supply you with your own fully customisable website at R 150 pm. This website includes your own online registration form and details on the products. If a customer should click on your website link, they will always be pointed back to your website. I.e. if someone has visited your website before and then later go to the Vox official website  they will automatically be pointed back to your personal website.

  • Do I get marketing material? Yes. Vox provides you with very basic marketing material and online adds.  This includes promotional DVD's and forms you can use to register your clients on.

  • How and when am I paid? You are paid 2 months in arrear into the bank account you specify on your registration form.

  • Who is the target market? Home users and Small Business like shops in malls and many other type of small businesses.. They need ADSL or need to get ADSL to use the service.

  • Can I only sell to people with ADSL? What about 3G and iBurst? ADSL is the only Internet connection that provides the reliable Voice over IP quality when speaking over the Internet (using VoIP). Vox has there for decided to presently only use ADSL but as technologies get better Vox may explore the other options

  • Is it necessary for a dealer to order a phone too?  It is strongly recommended but not a requirement.

  • Do customers need to cancel their existing ADSL service?    No. Vox is simply an add on service.  You will however need to replace your ADSL modem  with the Vox modem that comes included with your Vox phone.  Simply use your existing ADSL username and password and type it to get going again.

  • How do I upgrade from Customer to Dealer? If you are an existing customer  and want to become a dealer simply login to your  account,  go to the home page and click  on "Become a Dealer" then follow the procedure. You will instantly be upgraded.  Please ensure that you are logged in before doing this!  A once off membership fee of R500 is payable, thereafter R150 / annum.

  • How much money can I make?    On average should you sign-up a 100 clients, you will earn about R 5000 pm. With a product almost selling itself and a massive demand for cheaper phone calls you should be able to sign-up many more.  If you sign-up 1000 clients you should be earning about R 30 000 to R 50 000 per month passively. What this means is that you only sign-up these customers once and earn on them for the rest of your life providing they keep on using it.  If it takes you 6 months to  a year to achieve 1000 customers you could hopefully retire.   Or you could just refer Vox to your friends and family and earn an extra R 1000 or so per month. The biggest bonus is that if you stop working you still keep on earning!

About Vox

  • Who or what is VOX

Vox Telecom Limited is South Africa's leading alternative Telecommunications Company and has 10 years experience in the Telco sector with DataPro Internet, Orion Telecoms, and Atlantic Internet.  Vox Telecom Limited has grown organically and through strategic acquisitions, and is listed on the JSE with a market cap of 2.5 Billion Rand.

  • Is Vox connected with Telkom?     No, Vox is an independent company.

  • Will Vox be a disruptive threat to Telco?
No, in reality we are not an infrastructure provider and, as has been proven elsewhere in the world, the size of the market will increase dramatically as prices come down, and Telkom's revenue will probably increase as a result of companies like Vox. However, this will not happen without competition and we need the support of our customers to become strong enough to compete at all levels otherwise the status quo remains.
